My role in this project was the lead programmer. While also assisting with 3D Modeling. I was responsible for the interactions and lighting the scene. The project was created in Unity, assets modeled in Maya, procedurally generated rocks in Houdini.

Right

Worked as a group to generate assets. The level of immersion is high in the project. A fair amount of C# was learned in the project. Incorporation of design considerations for VR from past classes.

Wrong

Issues with the frame rate. Lighting needs to be tweaked. Initial trouble adding sound to the scene, but that was resolved. Textures needed to be less abstract.

Learned

How to create an interaction to load a new scene. Explored the importance of scale in virtual reality. Using a dynamic lighting scenario to create the mood. Creating fog using a particle system. Creating animated water with C#. Troubleshooting VR interactions and layer systems. The basics of Unity. Procedural generation of rocks in Houdini.
