SCADpro in Collaboration with Deloitte Digital

Our team was tasked with designing a new way of recruiting. One that focuses on the applicant while honing in on making the job of the recruiter easier. Deloitte tasked SCAD with finding a solution and shining a light on what needs to be changed in the recruitment process. We utilized 360 video solutions and virtual reality experience, all housed under the Talent app, to lead the applicant through the recruitment process and keep them engaged.

My Role

During the beginning of the project, I assisted our research team in conducting interviews and surveys. I also helped analyze the data we collected to inform our design decisions.

I was the360-video team lead for the project. I was responsible for organizing the on-site shooting and creating the shot list for the videos. The day we visited their Washington DC office was very fast-paced and my team got some amazing footage.

I also helped with the Social Space VR set up. We decided to use the HDRP render pipeline in Unity for the project. Which support for VR was released a few weeks before the start of the project. So, the entire tech team experimented and explored what was possible with the engine. I contributed to the final design and layout of the levels. Also, I modeled one of the robot avatars applicants would be able to use.

The vision video was a little unexpected, but I more than welcomed the challenge when Chad asked for my help. I assisted with filming the video and ideating the shot list for it. I also edited a good portion of the footage together.

Learned

I got to further explore Unity and using it to create VR experiences. I also got to see the whole research side of things. We spent weeks conducting extensive research to inform our design decisions, and I was one of the only tech team members to show up to every research meeting. Getting that experience and seeing how extensive research is conducted was mind-opening.

I also learned more about leadership and communication. I demoed the 360-video experience we created during our mid-term, final presentation, and the extra presentation we did after the project was concluded. Having to represent my part of the project in such an official setting was a new experience, and I was able to hone my communication skills.

The on-site footage we captured was used to create a scannable AR portion of the Talent app.
They can be utilized at recruitment events to place a potential applicant into the workplace, to get a feel for the environment.
We also took videos of the DC area, to give applicants a feel for the environment they would be living in.
These videos can be released based on the applicant's progress in the recruitment process, through the Talent app.
