Camera and lens modeled using Maya. textured using Substance Painter, and rendered in Arnold. End motion graphic is done in After Effects. My role in the group was to model the camera body, UV and texture the camera body and lens, and direct the setting up of the final renders.
We worked in as a team of five to produce a high quality advertisement for a product of our choosing. While I was not the production manger for our team I worked closely with her to organize the group and assist the other team members with compiling their assets into the final Maya scene.
As part of the group I was tasked with modeling the camera body and preparing it to be textured in substance painter. I then textured the camera through substance painter adding bump maps to bring out detail. After that I brought the textures into Maya and set them up to be rendered with Arnold. The group member who modeled the lens was having trouble texturing it, so I fixed up the model and UV'd it for him. Then brought it into substance painter and textured it as well. While our animator was still working I had to replace the lens model a few times as I was fixing it. When we were ready to render the final project I directed the setup across multiple computers and helped the other group members submit to the render farm.
I learned a lot about texturing with Substance Painter and setting up a 3D model to be brought into it. This project honed my Maya modeling skills and solidified my understanding of modeling from multiple reference images. I also had practice taking other's models, optimizing and fixing them. This was also my second time using Arnold to render so I spent more time exploring the options for that.
